Monroe Primary Building to Open in 2007-2008

The former Monroe Elementary School on Macready Avenue will open its doors in 2007 with a new name - Monroe Primary.  Beginning August, 2007 the Monroe Primary Building will house Monroe Preschool and Kindergarten students.  The move is necessary due to the increased enrollment causing space constraints at the existing elementary.  In 2008-2009, 1st grade will join Preschool and Kindergarten in the Primary Building with 2nd grade moving for the 2009-2010 school year.  Butler Tech currently leases the building, which houses Greentree Health and Science Academy.  In preparation for the arrival of the Preschool and Kindergarten students, the building will receive several improvements.  In addition to the upgraded technology and electrical system completed by Butler Tech, the building will receive new lighting, lower ceilings, security upgrades and air conditioning units in each classroom.  Along with the upgrades, the grade configuration of Preschool through 2nd grade will provide an environment conducive to the educational needs of young students. The Kindergarten staff will be hosting Kindergarten orientation on Monday, April 2, 2007 for all students residing west of Yankee Road and Tuesday, April 3, 2007 for all students residing east of Yankee Road at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Monroe Primary Building, 225 Macready Avenue.  This night is for parents to gather information about school enrollment.
