The June 6 meeting of the Monroe Current Events Club convened in the James Monroe Community Room of the Municipal Building. Hostesses Phylliss Harris, Virginia Smith, and Pat Beatty served a delicious luncheon of fruit skewers, chicken salad pinwheels, shrimp, cucumber and dill canapes, mini cheesecakes along with a sparkling punch. Red, white and blue table decorations were provided by Nancy Hertz. Following a brief business meeting members present answered roll call with a brief book review. Club meetings will resume in September.
