The Monroe Current Events Club held the annual Christmas Luncheon, December 5, 2007 at the Shaker Run Clubhouse on a very snowy day. There were two beautifully decorated trees in the room and each table held a live poinsettia and lovely gift bags for each person. Peggy Hesson, President, welcomed members and guests.
The honorary members were: Anna Lou Flannery, Brenda Heing, Lenora Housh, and Glengene Martin. The guests were: Pauline Belcher, Becky Douthett, Betty Gilbey, Rosie Howell, and Susan Thompson.
Grace was given by Charlotte Woodson. After a delicious meal, the trio from Monroe United Methodist Church entertained with songs of praise and Christmas songs. The trio members were: Carol Crotty, Jennifer Moak, and Carolyn Price. The accompanist was Melanie Flower.
Hostesses for the day were Pat Beatty, Elaine Blount, Mary Jane Conrad, Peggy Hesson, Marilyn Niebur, Virginia Smith, and Joyce Tannreuther.
The next meeting will be February 6, 2008 at 1:00 in the James Monroe Room in the City Building.
