Monroe/Middletown MOMS Club Organizing Food Drive for Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House, located across from Dayton Children's Hospital, provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. All families are welcome to stay at the House, regardless of their ability to pay.
“My family personally had to use the services of another Ronald McDonald House several years ago,” said McKnight. “Everything was provided for us – food, linens, soap. All we had to do was concentrate on getting our child well.” The drive will take place on Saturday, April 19 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Kroger Marketplace on Town Boulevard. There will also be a drop off bin for items at the Monroe Kroger on Heritage Green Drive. The “10 Most Wanted Items” requested by The Ronald McDonald House this month included: individual snacks (chips, Fritos, pretzels, etc), gummy style fruit snacks, individual pudding cups, individually packaged cookies, Little Debbies or Hostess snack cakes, Pop Tarts, individual size boxes of cereal, trash bags (7-10 gal or 30-33 gal), toilet bowl cleaner and paper plates.
“Of course, we’ll take any donations people want to give us”, said McKnight. “These are just the top 10 things that the Ronald McDonald house needs this month.” The MOMS Club of Monroe/Middletown is part of a non-profit international organization dedicated to supporting stay-at-home moms, part-time working moms and those moms with home-based businesses. Activities are held during the day when moms need the most support and are geared toward moms and their interests and hobbies. Activities include playgroups, mom and tot lunches, book club and moms in motion. Children of all ages are welcome at any event. For more information, please visit http://www.momsclubmiddmonroe.org.
