On Saturday, December 6, two Monroe band students earned spots in the 2009 OMEA District 13 Honor Band.
Percussion student Nick Dian will be a member of the High School Wind Symphony which will perform 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 1st at Springboro High School. Trumpet player Kinser Sebastian will be a member of the 8th grade Honor Band and perform at 2:00 p.m. at Middletown High School on Sunday, Feb. 1st.
This is truly an honor. In order to earn a spot, both students had to play an assigned piece of music and scales, as well as sight read in front of a judge. The highest scoring players were selected for groups in their age brackets. Hundreds of local band students auditioned for this select group.
It is amazing that the students will perform on Sunday after only rehearsing that Friday evening and Saturday, with a director and students who have never worked together before.
