Mount Pleasant’s Treasure Barn Finds New Homes for Beloved Items

Left: volunteers Bob Wieneke, Dottie Wieneke, Shirley Smith and Sharyn Edelen. Below: Clockwise from left: Volunteer Pearl Danbury. The Treasure Barn is located on Seminary Drive next to the Children's Village Day Care.

Co-chairs Dottie Wieneke and Shirley Smith, along with a dedicated group of volunteers, help play matchmaker to items collected over a lifetime and new owners who give them a new home.

The Treasure Barn houses many beautiful decorative items, as well as furniture, art, and much more.

Items are donated by frends and family of past, present and future residents. In years past, these were collected, stored, and then sold during the Life Care Auction each fall. It is now possible to purchase these items year-round instead of only one day a year.

The proceeds of the sales are used for capital improvement projects that benefit the residents at Mount Pleasant.

Donations are welcome, but the Treasure Barn does not accept clothing, computers or electronic items.

The Treasure Barn is open for donations and sales on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Special sales are also held several times a year.

For more information, please contact Dot (539-2670) or Shirley (360-0785), or better yet, stop in and browse the well-organized displays.
