SUMMARY:RESCHEDULED!  Spaghetti Dinner and Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:<p>Tuesday\, March 3\, 2009 is the Monroe Local School Band Annual Fund Raiser and will be held in the Monroe Local Schools high school cafeteria. During the dinner\, all the school band will hold a concert in the auditorium. The concert itself is free. </p><p>The dinner is sponsored by the Monroe Band Boosters and the proceeds go to the boosters to support each child’s band activities. The dinner will begin at 5\:00 PM and serving will end at 7\:00 PM. The meal consists of pasta\, sauce &amp\; breadsticks from Olive Garden\, with salad\, drink and dessert. Prices are as follows\: $7.00 for grades 7 and up. $6.00 for grades 6 and younger and Senior citizens\, children under 2 years of age eat FREE. </p><p>We encourage all parents\, other family members and community members to join us. DESCRIPTION:<p>The Monroe Historical Society has announced they will host a book signing for Monroe resident turned author\, Marcia McCartt on Sunday\, March 8 from 2\:00-4\:00pm at the Historical Society located at 10 East Elm Street in Monroe The 128-page book traces the history of Monroe from 1850 with over 200 black-and-white photos with a historical narrative </p><p>Mrs. McCartt’s passion for history and genealogy combined with an interest in the community encouraged her to write her first book She began with an interest in writing about the tornado that destroyed much of Monroe From that\, her interest began to develop in exploring much earlier events of this 192 year-old community In addition to the 1969 tornado\, the book features information about Nathaniel Sackett\, the city’s founder\, the Monroe churches and schools\, the many community events celebrated by the residents\, and successful individuals coming from the community </p>

This event is free and open to the public.  Guest speaker Scott Fowler serves as the Vice President of the Southwest Ohio Amusement Park Historical Society\, Inc. The SOAPHS is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the memories of over 16 amusement parks that were located in the area\, including LeSourdsville Lake (Americana). He is a former employee of LeSourdsville Lake and his personal collection of LeSourdsville Lake artifacts numbers well over 300 items\, dating back to the 1930&#39\;s. DESCRIPTION:<p>The City of Monroe has been working on a major update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Over the last year\, a committee made up of residents\, business owners\, township and school representatives\, developers\, and council members have been meeting to discuss future infrastructure needs and zoning requirements.</p><p>A citizen survey was done to determine what Monroe’s residents like and dislike about the city\, and what improvements they would like to see. Poggemeyer Design Group has been working with the committee to incorporate these ideas into the city’s master plan.</p><p>In addition to population projections\, the plan looks at needs for parks\, roads\, and development growth.</p>
