“President’s Award” Board Scholarship

The President’s Award honors a Monroe High School graduating senior(s) who has shown outstanding character and leadership while attending school.  The student(s) has effectively used his or her time and skills to benefit the community and school.   A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to assist with future educational expenses, and an honorary plaque will be displayed in the main street lobby of the high school.  
To be eligible, a nominee must meet the following criteria:
• MLS district Senior who attends Monroe High school, Greentree Academy, or Butler Tech
• Minimum GPA of 2.75
• Desire to continue education after high school.

...to Courtney Turner (grade 12) who received a Gold rating at the FCCLA Regional Rally.  Courtney has qualified to compete at the state competition in Columbus next month.
...to Eric Stone (grade 9) for scoring a superior rating at the Regional Science Fair at the University of Cincinnati.  He is moving on to the State Science Fair at Ohio State this month. Great job Eric!

A Parent's Role for Success in School

It is team time!   Time for the most important team, the educational team with the goal of making your child's school year outstandingly successful. Just as a sports team, make sure your child comes to school with the supplies, equipment needed and the attitude of a winner.

To make sure your child gets off to a good start:  

Hornet Cheerleaders Bring Home Trophies From Ashland

Monroe's cheer squads attended cheer camp at Ashland University in late July, and brought home a large quantity of trophies, ribbons and honors.

The varsity squad was selected "Camp Champs," winning first place in both the cheer and dance categories. Natalie Combs, Taylor Jones, Taylor Moore, Autumn Turner and Rachel Williams also qualified for the "All American Cheerleader" competition.

The junior varsity squad received a 2nd place in cheer, and the freshman and junior high squads each won first in dance.

JV, freshman and junior high qualifiers for "All American Cheerleader" were: junior Jessica Slezak; sophomore Karli Guido; freshman Abbie Fierman; and 8th graders Raeven Davis and Malea Shinno.

Beauty and the Beast Photo Gallery

Monroe Jr/Sr High School will present Disney's Beauty and the Beast this weekend. The show is spectacular and a great way to spend an evening (or afternoon) to see the talent we have in our schools! 

Shows are Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2:30. Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchased at the door. All seats are reserved, so allow a little extra time to purchase tickets.
