Mommy and Me Make Music Begins its Summer Session this June

Children participate in a scarf dance with instructor, Jodi Williams.Mommy and Me Make Music will begin it's summer session in June.  Classes are offered for children ages 4 months to 4 years old.  All classes have a theme that is age-appropriate and educational.  Parents and children interact while playing a variety of instruments, doing finger play songs and circle dances.  Props, such as scarves, parachute, and beanbags, are also used.  All activities are designed to encourage the development of social, cognitive, physical, and language skills. This is a great opportunity to interact with your child in a loving and educational environment.  Sessions average $9 per class and will be held on Monday mornings at Monroe Presbyterian Church.

Mommy and Me Make Music will begin its second year of classes this fall.  Children and caregivers interact in a loving and educational environment while playing a variety of instruments, singing songs, dancing, using props (such as balls, beanbags, and parachutes), and listening to stories.  Instructor Jodi Williams, a board-certified music therapist and mother of two small children, uses each musical activity to address social, cognitive, communication, physical, and developmental skills.  Classes are offered in two Monroe locations.  Free trial classes will be offered in August and September.  Please visit the website for dates and registration information.  www.MommyAndMeMakeMusic.com

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration packets will be available for pick-up beginning April 20th and ending May 1st from the Monroe Primary Office. Hours for pick-up will be 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Monroe Primary is located at 225 Macready Avenue. Children must be five years of age on or before September 30 to register for kindergarten.

Kindergarten screening for all incoming kindergartners will be held May 12th , 13th and 14th at Monroe Primary School between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. An appointment time will be scheduled when you get the registration packet. During this appointment your child will meet with a kindergarten teacher for a short screening and the parent/guardian will meet with a secretary to go over enrollment information. On the day of the appointment parents/guardians should bring the completed enrollment forms included in the enrollment packet and the following items to be copied.

Open House at Early E.D.G.E. Learning Center

Early E.D.G.E. is celebrating five years of service to the families of Monroe and the surrounding communities. As a ministry of the First Church of God, Monroe, Early E.D.G.E. offers early learning experiences in a faith based environment with teachers who share the joys of learning while instructing according to the Ohio Early Learning Standards. Part-time preschool is available for 3,4 & 5 year olds on a two, three or five day schedule. Full day childcare and kindergarten latchkey are also available. Transportation for students to and from the Primary building is provided by the Monroe Schools according to the bus route for the Easton Manor subdivision.

PTO Meeting and Elections

The next Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting is scheduled for March 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Elementary cafeteria. Monroe’s PTO needs you! The PTO is looking for parents to step up and become a vital part of the decision making process for the PTO. Board positions to be filled for next year are: Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Fundraising Co-chairs. Scholastic Book Fair

Monroe Elementary School and Monroe Primary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair on March 31 – April 2.  Families and the community are invited to attend the Book Fair, featuring the theme: Lights! Camera! Book Fair!  A Family Night will be held at the elementary on Thursday, April 2 from 3:30-7:30 p.m.  The Primary will host a Family Night on March 31 from 4:00-7:30 p.m. and a Grandparent Event on April 1 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  The Book Fair will offer specially priced books and educational products.  Book Fair customers may help the school build classroom libraries and improve children’s reading skills by purchasing books through the “Classroom Wish List” and “One for Books” programs.

The next session for Mommy and Me Make Music will begin March 3rd. Free trial classes are available in February. Classes are taught in Monroe, Ohio. These classes are for children ranging in age from 4 months to 4 years. All classes use music to encourage social, cognitive, physical and developmental skills. Music and More classes are also available for children ages 18 months to 3 years. These use music, crafts, activities and stories to support educational themes.
