Art Show Call for Entries

The Lending Library is planning an art show as part of their 5th Anniversary celebration. Artists from high school and up are encouraged to exhibit their work on Sunday, November 15th from 2-4pm.
Exhibits will include painting, drawing, pottery, jewelry, glass, woodcarving, pottery and more. Please pre-register by October 14 by email monroelendinglibrary@yahoo.com. or by calling 360-0714.

Reading Contest Winners

Winners of the Monroe Lending Library Reading Contest held in July were 1st Place tie, Rajver Singh and Jasdeep Singh, 2nd place Lauren Loveless and 3rd place Tess Sanker. They won an assortment of prizes, which included a Library membership renewal. All who participated received a "Reading Rocks" Tee Shirt and a Certificate of Participation.

Join us at the Lending Library for our summer reading/art program, introducing children to artists: Dale Chihuly, Jackson Pollack, Louise Nevelson and Cincinnati's own Charley Harper!

Four Week Program: July 11, 18, 25 and August 1. Open to the community on Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. Art projects the children will be working on are Dale Chihuly plastic glass sculpture, Jackson Pollack Rock Splatter Paint, Louise Nevelson junk art and Charley Harper wildlife.

Register your children today for this fun and exciting summer program. Registration forms can be picked up at the Monroe Lending Library or visiting our Website www.monroelibrary.net.

Join us for our Art Show, Saturday, August 1st. We will display all of the art pieces created, hand out prizes for best of show and celebrate with a picnic party!

Summer Reading Programs at the Lending Library

Summer Reading Program

The Monroe Lending Library is again offering a Reading Contest, open to the children of the Monroe and surrounding area, that begins June 8th and ends June 27th. The top three readers who have read the most books will receive prizes and the opportunity to ride in the parade on Saturday, July 4th. No registration is required for this reading contest; however books read must be checked out from the Monroe Lending Library.

Summertime Kids Grant

The Monroe Lending Library is the recipient of a Greater Cincinnati Foundation "Summertime Kids" Grant.

"A is for Artist" will be our summer reading/craft program introducing children to the art of four main artists: Dale Chihuly, Jackson Pollard, Louise Nevelson and Charley Harper.

Read-A-Thon

The Monroe Lending Library Read-a-Thon was held on Saturday, February 28th. It was attended by 22 readers, some with parents. A total of 4248 pages were read by the group. The Read-A-Thon increased awareness of our library and provided an opportunity for children of all ages to read in a fun social environment.

Many thanks to the local businesses who donated the prizes given out during the day: Tim Horton's, Kroger, ElGrillo, Raymond's Pizza (Liberty), Karisma Hair Salon, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Finke's IGA, Ameristop, Victory Lane Pizza, The Little Gym (West Chester), Putter's Tavern (Liberty), Avon (Connie Flowers, Middletown). Also, thanks to library patron Darrick Murphy who took photos all day.

 

Lending Library Read-A-Thon

Please join us on Saturday, February 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Library Read-A-Thon.

All  7 to 10 year old book readers are invited to attend the Monroe Lending Library Read-a-Thon.  You may bring your own book or read books that we have at the library. Everyone who participates will receive a gift certificate from Tim Horton’s.
