fall, but April will be here before we know it; and, with the large number
of kids who play it takes several months to get things organized and ready
to go.

6th Grade Cheerleaders 2nd in Tennessee

 

The 6th grade cheerleaders received a 2nd place in the "Battle in Rocky Top" Cheerleading Competiton in Knoxville, Tennessee. This was the first competition for the squad and was held in conjuction with a football tournament in Knoxville. The football team also attended the girls' competiton and cheered them on. The team is coached by Tracy Yalich with assistant coach Melissa Hammond.

The cheerleaders are (in alphabetical order): Delaney Barker, Kalle Blevins, Kerry Butler, Samantha Callihan, Emily Chasteen, Claudia Fussnecker, Cameron Hammond, Jennifer Horvat, Lauren Johnson, Hannah Lawson, Hanna Long, Sadie Long, Abbey Martin, Paige Ross, Alexa Sibcy, Tarin Yalich.

 

 

Third Grade Girls Take Home Top Trophy

Monroe's 3rd girls played in the Thanksgiving Day Basketball Tournament at the Kingdom on November 28th and 29th, coming out on top in the tournament. Congratulations to these fine athletes!

Monroe Football "Camp of Champions"

Ken Meibers the Head Varsity Football Coach is hosting the Second Annual Camp of Champions! Football players that are entering grades 1-9 are eligible for the program. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, June 15-18th at the varisity football stadium. The cost is $50.00. 

This is a totally separate camp from the mandatory pee-wee football camp that is happening in July. Camp flyers are available on line at www.monroehornetsfootball.com, and also at the front office at the High School, as well as the athletic office. Camp flyers were also sent home with Monroe students.

6th Grade Lady Swarm

The 6th grade Monroe Lady Swarm Basketball Team placed 2nd in the Dayton Metro Basketball Tourney. The team is coached by Head Coach Jeff Abner, assisted by Stan Margerum and Chris Snyder.

 The 5th Grade girls finished their season with a 23-4 record and took 2nd place in the season ending Dayton Metro tournament.

Baseball/Softball Signups

It’s that time of year again. Spring Fever is right around the corner, and that means that baseball/softball signups are going on now. Everyone on the MSA board is looking forward to a great season.

Dates:

Saturday, January 31st, 11 AM - 2 PM at the City Building.

Wednesday, February 4th,  6 - 8 PM at the City Building.

Fees for the upcoming season: 1st child - $85.00, 2nd child - $70.00. 3rd and each additional child will be $60.00 per child.

Sign ups can be done in person so that way you can have your kids try on uniforms to make sure you get the correct sizes, or if you are 100% positive of your childs sizes, you can sign up online at www.monroesports.net.

Osterman Signs with Centre College

Tyler  Osterman, Hornet Quarterback, signed to play football for Centre College in Kentucky starting in the fall.
Tyler Osterman was also selected for 1st Team All-Academic Ohio for Basketball. Only 10 young men are selected from each of Ohio’s four divisions, based on academic achievements as well as baksetball skills.
